Position Overview
Alberta Paramedical Services is currently seeking Advanced Care Paramedics who are certified and available for immediate appointment in Part-time Appointees will deliver medical services for a long-term clinical setting to satisfy Alberta OH&S requirements for our client. Responsibilities include staffing and managing a First Aid/Medical Aid room or clinic. The base of operations is Edmonton.

Success in this role requires remaining calm and clear-headed in high-pressure situations, a strong orientation towards customer service, and superior communication and organizational abilities. Given the diversity of serviced events, flexibility and openness to new methods, along with a positive attitude, are essential. Duties may be performed independently or as part of a team. Maintaining the highest standard of customer service is paramount.
Job Summary
- Appointees are responsible for responding to medical calls, providing basic life support/advanced life support, and arranging transportation of patients in accordance with provincial legislation and professional guidelines. As healthcare professionals, ACPs serve as patient advocates, communicating effectively with allied health and public safety partners, and ensuring patient care and transport is safe and proficient. A thorough understanding of EMS protocols, policies, and procedures is required.
- Ability to work independently is required.
Working Hours and Remuneration
Part-time positions are expected to work 2-3 shifts per week, with the ability to work up to 41.25 hours per week. Successful candidates will receive competitive wages. Health benefits and retention pay are available to fulltime staff.
Major Functions and Responsibilities
- The principal duty is the provision of basic life support/advanced life support services, contributing to the health and wellness programs that foster a safe and healthy workplace.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Capability to work independently and ensure a First Aid Room is maintained in excellent operational condition.
- Registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics as an Advanced Care Paramedic is mandatory.
- Applicants must be comfortable working in environments that may be either very busy or very quiet.
- Self-motivation is required.
- On-site training specific to the position will be provided.
- Individuals must adhere to all the site safety rules and regulations at all times.
Specific Qualifications
- Applicants must be in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics, maintaining clinical competencies within their defined scope of practice.
- Certification in Basic Life Support – Health Care Professional (BLS-HCP) is essential.
- Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator’s License with fewer than five demerit points. Completion of a Defensive Driving Course is an asset.
- Applicants must demonstrate satisfactory previous work performance and relevant experience. Professional references with up-to-date contact details are required.
General Skill Set
- Proven excellence in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; ability to work effectively across various functional areas and with different professional groups.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential medical records according to established protocols.
- Ability to always uphold patient confidentiality.
- Good knowledge of relevant provincial Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) legislation.
