DUTIES AND TASKS

Emergency and Response

  • Maintain personal knowledge and skills, in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP), to deliver optimum patient care.
  • Safely operate MHS – West vehicles in accordance with MHS – West Health and Safety Manual, Operational Guidelines, and all provincial and federal regulations.
  • Stocks and maintains vehicles in a state of readiness at all
  • Work in hazardous environments to ensure the safety and stabilization of the
  • Work with outside agencies as a team in a coordinated effort on behalf of the
  • Document all patient care, assessments, and skills, within the patient care report in a timely
  • Punctual and ready to respond at the start of their
  • Act in a professional manner and handle conflict situations with good
  • Follow the MHS – West chain of

Communication

  • Create and maintain fully completed Electric Patient Care (ePCRs)
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with all provincial and federal regulations (HIPA).
  • Refer all media requests to the General Manager of MHS – West
  • Report all incidents and complete written incident report forms to General Manager of MHS – West or

Education

  • Develop and provide continuing educational requirements as required by the Alberta College of Paramedics
  • Maintains functional awareness of MHS – West Operational Guidelines, and AHS medical control
  • Participates actively in MHS – West Quality Assurance
  • Develop a plan for maintaining and improving self-directed professional

Physical Ability

  • Must be in good physical health with no disabilities that will impair duties as a
  • Considerable lifting and movement of heavy patients
  • Will need to extricate patients from hazardous environments
  • Will advise director, and/or team leader, of injuries that will impair

Public Relations

  • Actively participates in public awareness and community education programs approved by MHS – West
  • Maintains professional appearance of the approved uniform, and maintains hygienic and grooming standards.

Safety Hazards

  • Exposure to Violent Behaviour
  • Traffic Hazards
  • Communicable Diseases
  • Invasive medical (i.e. IV needles)
  • Extreme Weather Conditions
  • Work with present considerable hazards

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Alberta Operators License class 1, 2 or 4.

Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics

Completion of Alberta Health Services MCP’s

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Certified in and maintains CPR certification Certified in and maintains AHS MCP certification

Current ACP registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics

FARE Certificate

 

Salary in conjunction with the Collective Agreement with HSAA and Prairie EMS (MHS-West).
