MHSW Northeast is currently seeking PCP and ACP applications for temporary positions created to fill vacancies in the schedule due to summer vacation requests. The shifts available could be on a Core Flex truck or 12 Hour truck and the location will change depending on need.

DUTIES AND TASKS
Emergency and Response
-
Maintain personal knowledge and skills, in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP), to deliver optimum patient care.

Safely operate MHS – West vehicles in accordance with MHS – West Health and Safety Manual, Operational Guidelines, and all provincial and federal regulations.

Stocks and maintains vehicles in a state of readiness at all times.
-
Work in hazardous environments to ensure the safety and stabilization of the patient.
-
Work with outside agencies as a team in a coordinated effort on behalf of the patient.
-
Document all patient care, assessments, and skills, within the patient care report in a timely and legible fashion.
-
Punctual and ready to respond at the start of their shift.
-
Act in a professional manner and handle conflict situations with good judgment.

Follow the MHS – West chain of command.
Communication
-
Create and maintain fully completed patient care reports. (ePCRs).
-
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with all provincial and federal regulations.
-
Refer all media requests to the General Manager of MHS – West.
-
Report all incidents and complete written incident report forms to Director of MHS – West or designate.
Education
-
Develop and provide continuing educational requirements as required by the Alberta College of Paramedics

Maintains functional awareness of MHS – West Operational Guidelines, and AHS medical control guidelines.

Participates actively in MHS – West Quality Assurance Program.
-
Develop a plan for maintaining and improving self-directed professional growth.
Physical Ability
-
Must be in good physical health with no disabilities that will impair duties as a Paramedic.
-
Considerable lifting and movement of heavy patients.
-
Will need to extricate patients from hazardous environments.
-
Will advise director, and/or team leader, of injuries that will impair duties.
Public Relations
-
Actively participates in public awareness and community education programs approved by MHS – West.

Maintains professional appearance of the approved uniform, and maintains hygienic and grooming standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Alberta Operators License class 1, 2 or 4.
Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics
Current registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics, if applying to Lloydminster Positions
Completion of Alberta Health Services MCP’s
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Certified in and maintains CPR certification
Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics
Current registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (Lloydminster only)
FARE Certificate Required
